How Can I Plan My Goals More Successfully? 5 Best Tips

Planning is one of the best ways to manifest and bring your hopes and dreams much closer.

It allows you to think through what you need to do to achieve your goals, and it gives you a roadmap to follow. 

As an author and lifestyle coach, I am often asked by clients about the best ways to actively plan for success. 

Here are 5 of my favorite tips to help you manifest the lifestyle you deserve.

Ok with the short answer in mind, let's dive straight in and find out why intention setting is so crucial to the successful planning and why it's the building block for creating the best you! 

1. Set Your Intention

The first step in planning is to know what you want. What are your goals? What does success look like to you? Once you have a clear understanding of your goals, the planning process will be much easier.

Intention setting is the first and most crucial part of the process because it will be the foundation upon which your entire plan is built.  Some ways you begin to set your intentions are:

By taking the time to write out what you want in detail. Get specific about the kind of lifestyle you want to create.

Visualize it. What does your ideal day look like? How do you feel?

Make a list of what success looks like to you in all areas of your life: career, relationship, finances, wealth, personal growth, etc.

One of my favorite tips is to set your intention for how you want to feel every single day.

Some people choose to set their goals and intentions at the beginning of each year.

Others like to do it quarterly or monthly. There is no wrong way to do this as long as you are taking the time to do it intentionally.

The most important thing is to be clear about what you want and to take action steps towards making it happen. 

When you know what you want and why you want it, the Universe will begin to manifest your dreams and help you make them happen!

2. Have realistic goals

Trying to accomplish too much in too short of a time frame is a recipe for disaster. When setting goals, be realistic about what you can realistically achieve given the time and resources you have available. 

Goal setting is often the first place to start when looking to magnetize success into your life. 

3. Break your goals down into smaller steps

But it's important to remember that by casting your net too wide you may find yourself overwhelmed, and this feeling of overwhelm can lead to hesitation, procrastination, and even quitting. 

So while it's great to have lofty goals, make sure they are achievable.

Once you have your goal or goals in mind, take a step back and look at the big picture. 

What needs to happen for you to achieve your goal? 

Write down these steps, and then break them down into even smaller steps. 

The smaller the steps, the easier they will be to accomplish.

4. Make a plan

Once you have set your goals and made a timeline, the next step in succession planning is to physically write down a plan for how you will achieve those goals. 

This plan should include what steps you need to take and when you need to take them. 

There are many cool ways to organize your plans such as using a task manager, a journal, or even making a table.

Some of the best ways to make a successful plan are either working with a professional such as a life coach or finding someone to buddy up with who is also looking to bring their hopes, dreams, and desires closer.  

Working together can help you to stay on track and accountable to someone other than yourself.

Some great ways of starting the planning process are:

  • Determine what your core values and priorities are

  • Set goals that are achievable and measurable

  • Make a budget and stick to it ( if it is relevant)

  • Create a timeline for your goals

  • Identify any potential obstacles that could prevent you from achieving your goals

  • Find someone to be your accountability partner or life coach

Taking small, consistent steps will help you to achieve your long-term goals and create lasting change in your life. 

Remember to celebrate your accomplishments along the way- even the small ones!- to keep yourself motivated.

Once you have made your plan, it is important to set reminders for yourself so that you don't forget what you need to do! 

These reminders can be in the form of alarms, alerts, or even sticky notes. Whatever works best for you, make sure that you set reminders for yourself so that you can stay on track.

5. Take action

This is the most important part! You can have all the goals, timelines, and plans in the world, but none of it will matter if you don't take action!  

Taking action is easier if you've taken the time to break your goals down into smaller, more manageable steps as I mentioned above.  

It can be overwhelming to see a huge list of 'to-dos!’ and can sometimes stop you from making those crucial steps.

Above all, It's important to be patient and remember that taking the first steps starts you on your journey, but it's worth understanding anything worth waiting for takes some work. 

You won't achieve your goals overnight, but steady progress can help you to manifest the success you deserve!

To help you take the necessary action to put your plans in place you could :

  • Set deadlines for each task related to your goal

  • Create a daily/weekly/monthly action plan

  • Remain consistent and take action steps every day

  • Set up weekly/monthly check-ins with yourself to monitor progress

These are just some ideas to get you started, but the most important thing is that you take action now and start to make your financial, relationship, and happiness goals a reality.
